Sigma's widest ultra-wide-angle zoom

Designed for use with full-frame DSLRs, the 12-24mm is a wide-angle zoom that offers an exceptionally wide focal length for anyone needing a very wide angle-of-view. The lens is perfect for landscape photography, interiors, events and architecture, and the constant F4 aperture provides fast shutter speeds in low light.

Optically the lens is extremely impressive, delivering edge-to-edge sharpness even at 12mm, allowing photographers to capture scenes in remarkable detail, even on the highest resolution DSLR cameras. This is thanks to its advanced optical design that includes 5 FLD elements, 1 SLD element and 2 aspherical elements.

The SIGMA 12-24mm F4 lens also features a durable and weather-resistant design, making it suitable for use in a variety of shooting conditions.

The 12-24mm boasts one of the widest focal lengths on the market, and is perfect for architecture, interiors and landscapes.

WR CERAMIC PROTECTOR 82mm

With many applications in aerospace and other industries, glass ceramics is an extremely tough type of crystallized glass that serves as the foundation for Clear Glass Ceramics. While featuring the high transmittance required of optical devices, this advanced new material combines greater hardness than chemically strengthened glass and greater flexibility than sapphire crystal glass. These qualities make Clear Glass Ceramics the ideal material for protective lens filters.

WR UV FILTER 82mm

UV Water-repellent, Antistatic type. UV filter prevents the bluish tone that generates when the weather is fine, by absorbing ultraviolet rays. It is effective in most situations, such as landscape, portrait and general photography on a sunny day. It is also an ideal filter for regular use as it is completely colorless so does not affect color reproduction.

Technologies

Best-in-class optical performance

The F2.8 Art zoom flagship zoom lens series is developed primarily to achieve superior optical performance. As extra-low dispersion glass materials, six sheets of “F” low dispersion (FLD) glass and two sheets of special low dispersion (SLD) glass are lavishly employed while taking advantage of an optical design dedicated for mirrorless lenses. By employing three aspheric lenses, this zoom lens thoroughly subdues aberrations such as axial chromatic aberration or sagittal coma aberration, which are difficult to correct in post-processing, tailors the resolution and achieves uniformity and superior optical performance from the center to the periphery throughout the zoom range.

The mirrorless camera-dedicated design successfully contributes to reduction in the lens size and weight.

Ensuring compatibility withthe latest full-framemirrorless camera bodies

The SIGMA 24–70mm F2.8 DG DN ensures compatibility with various types of the latest full-frame mirrorless camera bodies tailored for L-Mount and Sony E-Mount so as to be capable of exerting the best performance under any photographic circumstances, assuming that professional or advanced amateur photographers use it. To the AFL button, for example, various functions can be assigned from a camera body*, which enhance the operability while photographing. Employing a stepping motor and the latest algorithm successfully establishes a good balance between acceleration and quietness of the AF drive. This enables stress-free focusing. Furthermore, this lens is compatible with the Eye-Detection AF used more frequently in mirrorless cameras, which is capable of high-precision focusing at the time of portrait photography.

* This has a constraint depending on camera bodies used.

Adaptable to various uses and photographic environments

In consideration of shooting under challenging shooting conditions, the dust and splash resistant structure* and water- and oil-repellent coating are adopted. In addition, a variety of functions, such as an AFL button that can assign various functions to the lens barrel, a zoom lock switch that is unlocked by zoom operation, a nice touch AF / MF switch, are provided.
  • * Although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof.

SIGMA’s unique coating technology Nano Porous Coating

The super multi-layer coating is combined with SIGMA’s unique coating technology “NPC (Nano Porous Coating)”. The lens has been designed to be less susceptible to strong incident light such as backlight.
“NPC (Nano Porous Coating)” incorporates porous silica as the coating material. The porous silica layer has nano-sized holes with air inside. Having holes of this size enables a large reduction in the refractive index, allowing the reflectance to be lowered more than conventional anti-reflective coatings. As a result, reflected light causing flares and ghosting is sharply reduced, achieving clear image quality.

About the shortest shooting distance

The minimum focusing distance is 18 cm at the wide-angle end. This allows you to come closer to a subject than the end of a hood to take photographs*. The maximum magnifications are 1:2.9 at the wide-angle end and 1:4.5 at the telephoto end, which provides a wider range of expression by close-up photography.

* Be extremely careful that the front lens element does not hit the subject when photographing. Remove the lens hood from the camera body before use when photographing at the minimum focusing distance at the wide-angle end.

Description

Best performance can be provided due to a large-aperture zoom. This creed made an extremely high sense of resolution achieved in 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the SIGMA’s first Art zoom dedicated for mirrorless cameras. It is also inherited in 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the second Art zoom. By exerting superiority in mirrorless camera-dedicated designs, the lens size and weight are successfully reduced, while achieving uniformity and high resolution from the center to the periphery throughout the zoom range.

Furthermore, compatibility with the latest mirrorless camera bodies and functions assists in various photographic environments and meets the high demands of professional or advanced amateur photographers. Following 14–24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, 24–70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art has appeared as the flagship of the new-generation Art zoom and ultimate large-aperture standard zoom lens.

Two wide-angle zooms for DSLRs

The 12-24mm and 14-24mm are SIGMA’s two widest-angle full-frame zooms for DSLRs. With exactly the same weight, AF motor and maximum aperture, and near identical build quality, length and optical designs, they are very similar lenses. The main differences are F2.8 aperture of the 14-24mm, and the wider angle-of-view of the 12-24mm.

Made in Aizu

All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at our sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.

Sigma chose Aizu as its main production base in the early 1970s. Situated at the base of Mount Bandai in the Fukushima Prefecture, about four hours’ drive north of Tokyo, Aizu has an
