Named the L-Mount Alliance, this is a partnership of an unprecedented nature that particularly benefits customers who use the partner companies’ products. This alliance allows Panasonic and SIGMA to develop their respective products using the L-Mount standard initially developed by Leica and offer cameras and lenses using this lens mount.
Director’s viewfinder is a feature that allows users to check different angles of view with different lens combinations in videography. With the fp, when you choose the name of the brand, camera model, and other settings, you can simulate shots achieved with the settings chosen.
Yes, you can use any of the Art, Contemporary, or Sports lines of lenses and use all the features by using the MOUNT CONVERTER MC-21.
Yes, the fp is compatible with L-Mount lenses.
The feature is used to correct a phenomena where a shift in color occurs near the edges of an image (i.e. color shading).
When you are using an L-Mount lens, color shading is automatically corrected, although you can fine-tune it manually.
The color shading correction feature is also available with a lens attached using a non-SIGMA mount adaptor, which means you can use the feature when you shoot with an old lens.
You can set color shading in the “Lens Optical Correction” on the third tab under SHOOT in the menu.
The firmware can be updated in-camera. All L-Mount alliance lenses support firmware updates in-camera.

You can select the electronic image stabilization on the fp only when the in-lens optical image stabilization is turned off. In addition, it may not be available to choose with certain settings, such as when shooting DNG or at extended ISO settings.

Shutter angle is one of the ways to set the time of exposure for video. With the fp, it is the STILL mode shutter speed.
This represents the time of exposure as a percentage of the time per frame, which is determined by the frame rate (e.g. 1/30 second at 30 fps) expressed as an angle where 360° is 100%.
For instance, 180° at 30 fps is 1/60 of a second; 180° at 120 fps is 1/240 of a second.
The fp has features that support full-fledged video shooting, and Timecode is one of them. It is used to synchronize the time of multi-camera shots. This is used to synchronize not only for video but audio as well.

It is not possible to convert a mount on a sd Quattro H camera to L-Mount.
In live view on the P or A mode, the fp is designed to detect flickering automatically and adjust the shutter speed and exposure timing to minimize its effect on the image.
In the S or M mode, however, a shutter speed of the user’s choice is used, and flickering shadows may appear depending on the shutter speed used.
Likewise, the flicker reduction does not work when the camera is set to continuous shooting, such EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) or HDR.
The name “fp” comes from the words “fortissimo” and “pianissimo,” which mean “very loud” and “very quiet,” respectively, in music.
The name was given as it embodies the concept of this camera that is created to a range of shooting settings from a minimalist, simple and light setup to a full-blown cinematography work.
It has been our view that the Foveon sensors are the best choice for products whose primary focus is still image quality, and it still remains so. However, for the fp, which is a camera of an entirely new genre, we chose to use a Bayer sensor as we decided that it would be the best overall.
Unlike regular sensors that capture information of just one color per pixel, the SIGMA sensors are revolutionary full-color image sensors that are capable of capturing full-color information with a three-layer structure. This removes the necessity for color interpolation, and makes images in principle free of color artifacts, which means that there is no need for a low-pass filter. Foveon sensors can capture all the light and color information, creating high-resolution three-dimensional images that look very realistic.
Lenses
If you use a low profile filter, such as a SIGMA filter, there will be no vignetting.
When shooting Starscape photography, a belt-shaped or linear lens heater wrapped around the front lens may be used to prevent night dew and condensation inside the lens.
The step provided at the front of the lens is called a ‘heater retainer’, and it ensures that a lens heater does not protrude over the front element of the lens which otherwise would cause vignetting.
When the MFL switch is set to the LOCK position, the focus ring operation is disabled, but AF operation is possible. So please check if the setting is set to AF.
Also, even with the MF setting, there are some camera bodies that temporarily operate AF by operating the AF-ON button, so please check the camera body settings.
If you use a low profile filter, such as a SIGMA filter, there will be no vignetting.
If you use the SIGMA PL filter, there will be no vignetting.
To achieve a wider angle of view of 16mm, the filter size needed to be 72mm.
The total length does not change even when zoomed, and the shift to its balance point is small, which is advantageous for gimbal shooting.

By incorporating a Nano Porous Coating, the SIGMA 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary achieves clear image quality by suppressing flare and ghosting.
Focusing accuracy may decrease when the rotation angle is small. If there is a problem with accuracy, set a larger angle of rotation (a large focus throw) or set to non-linear focusing.
With large-diameter lenses, telephoto lenses, macro lenses, and some others, high-precision focusing becomes difficult within the range of angles that can be set arbitrarily with the L-Mount camera body. Also, some lenses are not compatible due to hardware limitations. Therefore it is not compatible with such lenses.
Update the lens firmware to the latest version and the menu will be displayed.
It is a focus movement method of interchangeable lenses for mirrorless cameras (DN lens) in relation to the rotational angle of the focus ring during manual focusing.
With “non-linear focus,” the amount of focal point movement varies depending on the focus ring rotational speed.
With linear focus, if the focus ring rotational angle is the same, the amount of focal point movement remains the same regardless of the focus ring rotational speed.
With non-linear focus, turning the focus ring quickly will change the focusing amount by more than if it is moved slowly, even if the ring is turned by the same amount.
By changing the turning speed, it is possible to achieve both large focus movement and fine focus adjustment, but since the amount of movement of the focus position changes depending on both the turning angle and speed, it can be difficult to predict how much the focus moves when operating the focus ring.
With linear focus, the amount of focus movement is constant regardless of the speed at which the focus ring is turned. If you have a camera that supports linear focus and you set it so that a small movement of the focus ring results in a large movement of the focusing element(s), it will be difficult to ensure focusing accuracy. Conversely, if the focus ring is set so that a large movement is needed to move the focusing element(s) by only a small amount, greater focusing accuracy can be achieved, but operation will be slower as the ring has to be turned further.
With compatible lenses, you can switch between linear and non-linear focusing.
When using a SIGMA filter, the hood can be attached and detached without any problem.
A Φ55mm filter can be attached to the front of the lens. We recommend the SIGMA WR CIRCULAR PL FILTER.
TSC is a type of polycarbonate with a thermal expansion rate similar to that of aluminum. If materials with different thermal expansion rates are used in combination, naturally, the change in magnitude when temperature changes will differ. In consideration of this, clearance is required. This clearance can be minimized if the differences in thermal expansion rates are small.
By using a combination of TSC and aluminum parts which share similar thermal expansion rates, it is possible to manufacture a highly accurate lens barrel with a minimum deviation.

The lens was designed to control aberration variation that could achieve high resolution when focused on distant objects as well as beautiful back bokeh when shooting at close range.
For L-Mount, it is possible to customize the OS effect and the focus limiter distance to suit your shooting style and assign these settings to either Custom Mode switch C1 or C2. This is done via the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 (available separately) and the dedicated SIGMA Optimization Pro software (free to download). For Sony E-mount, the OS effect is assigned to Custom Mode switch OFF, C1 and C2 respectively.

C1: Dynamic View Mode
This mode offers a recognizable OS effect to the image in the viewfinder. This helps to ensure the composition of images quickly.
C2: Moderate View Mode
This mode is quickly able to ascertain the difference between fine composition adjustment and unwanted camera shake. It provides a natural and smooth viewfinder image even when composition is changed rapidly.
It is a sensor that can detect the position of the focus lens with a high degree of precision by using a magnetic signal. This is done in real time to improve AF accuracy.
The Zoom Torque switch changes the resistance of the zoom ring. T (Tight) sets a greater zoom ring torque and helps prevent the lens from extending under its own weight when it is pointed upwards or downwards. S (Smooth) sets a lower zoom ring torque, allowing the lens to zoom in and out smoothly.
For added convenience when carrying the lens, the zoom ring can be locked at wide end.
If the Zoom Torque switch won’t move freely, rotate the zoom ring slightly and slide the switch to the T (Tight) position.
The lens foot can be removed using the supplied hex wrench.
All SIGMA tripod sockets (replaceable lens foot type)* can be attached on 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports. Please remove and attach the bolts that fix the foot in position using the supplied hex wrench.

With the Canon EF-M mount lenses, firmware update is done on a PC with SIGMA Optimization Pro installed, using the USB DOCK UD-11. The firmware of an L-Mount lens can be updated either in-camera or using the USB DOCK.

The SIGMA SA-mount and the CANON EF-mount lenses can be used with the SIGMA TC-1401 (1.4×) and TC-2001 (2.0×) teleconverters.
With auto focus shooting, the TC-1401 can be used on the long end, while the TC-2001 requires manual focus for the entire range. Please note that the TC-1411 or the TC-2011 cannot be used with L-Mount lenses.

In terms of functionality, there is clear difference in how smooth the AF is with the continuous AF. We recommend you use an L-Mount lens if you shoot with the continuous AF or shoot video often.
The combination of focus mechanism (i.e. an extending, floating focus mechanism) with the focus-by-wire system used in the SIGMA 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO Art presents certain concerns over affinity with the Nikon AF-P (the “P” refers to pulse motor, also known as stepping motor) that affects user experience. For this reason, we are putting the development of a Nikon mount version on hold.
The lens remains extended and would not go back into place when the camera is turned off, which means you will need to cover the lens with your hand and push it back into place manually before turning the camera off. With other mounts, the lens will go back into place automatically when you turn off the camera.

The SIGMA CINE LENS are compatible with SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 and SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-31. MC-11 allows SIGMA lenses with the EF mount to be used with Sony E-mount camera bodies. MC-31 allows SIGMA lenses with the PL mount to be used with L-Mount camera bodies.

The internal mechanism of the SIGMA PL mount cine lenses are very different from EF mount and E mount. Therefore to change the mount, we need to dismantle the whole lens. To guarantee the performance of the lens once dismantled, it requires the same exclusive equipment as building a lens from scratch.
Considering the delivery date and cost, we have not covered PL mount for the mount conversion service.

The lenses we have currently launched all have the same front diameter, but their lengths are all different. All of the lenses have the same gear diameter and positions as well. Respective numbers for future lenses are still to be determined.

It depends on the model. In certain models, focus breathing may seem to occur more than in lenses designed exclusively as cine lenses.
In general, a perfectly parfocal lens production is nearly impossible. SIGMA goes through great lengths to reduce focus shift throughout the zoom range. However, as is the case with most cine zoom lenses, the SIGMA cine zooms are nearly parfocal.
The lens mount establishes an electronic connection with the camera, allowing lens data to be transmitted (focal length, shooting distance, aperture, etc.). The data that is recorded varies by camera.

Software
Depending on the computer environment, it is identified that the GPU Acceleration Mode cannot be activated or the software crushes down when activated. In such cases, it is assumed that the VRAM data is less than 1 GB or the driver of the graphic card is not updated to the latest version.
